Bancarella Cookery Prize 2021: pasta is victorious

The prize, established in Pontremoli in 2006 and now in its 16th edition, is among Italy’s most prestigious food literature prizes. Having reviewed this year’s food-and wine related publications, the prize’s Commission chose six finalists, and on 17 October announced the winner: with Storia della pasta in dieci piatti (History of Pasta in Ten Dishes, published by Il Saggiatore), Luca Cesari won over the panel of booksellers, journalists and representatives of the food and wine sector. Visibly touched, he thanked the prize’s organising body, the Fondazione Città del Libro (City of Books Foundation), in the person of its President, Ignazio Landi, as well as the judges and the participating authors.
The 2021 edition was masterfully conducted by the prize’s Secretary, Professor Giuseppe Benelli (Vice-President of the Academy’s Franco Marenghi Study Centre) who emphasised the quality and variety represented by the six finalists. President Paolo Petroni was also among the Chief Electors for this year’s prize.
