On the 26th of November, a unified event was held in the elegant halls of the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, to award the Orio Vergani and Gianni Fossati Prizes and the Prix Nationaux AIG 2025.
President Paolo Petroni invited guests and journalists to celebrate those who daily dedicate themselves to the promotion of Italian cuisine with integrity, commitment and passion.
The prestigious Orio Vergani Prize was delivered by President Paolo Petroni to the Undersecretry of State for Culture with responsibility for UNESCO Gianmarco Mazzi, a driving force and signatory of the Italian Cuisine’s candidature for Intangible Heritage status, for his abundant contributions to the international dissemination of Italian food culture and the promotion of our country’s gastronomic excellence worldwide.
Undersecretary Mazzi devolved the cash portion of the Orio Vergani prize to Associazione Bottega dei Talenti - Caterina & Francesca APS (Caterina & Francesca Talent Workshop Social Promotion Association), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the social and educational inclusion of people with disabilities.
The Gianni Fossati journalistic prize went to journalist Maurizio Bertera, for his hard work promoting Italian food traditions. He was unable to participate, so fellow journalist
Piermaurizio Di Rienzo accepted the award on his behalf.
Next was the award ceremony for the Prix Nationaux 2025 of the Académie Internationale de la Gastronomie. The prizes were assigned to: Fabrizio Mellino (Prix au Chef de l’Avenir - Chef of the Future Prize); Beniamino Passannante (Prix au Chef Pâtissier - Pastry Chef Prize); Lukas Gerges (Prix au Sommelier - Sommelier Prize); and Mauro Bassini (Prix de la Littérature Gastronomique - Food Literature Prize).
