Thursday 21 October – ECUMENICAL DINNER

This year’s convivial ecumenical dinner will be held on Thursday, 21 October. This long-standing annual recurrence unites all Academicians in Italy and abroad around the same virtual table, and this year its theme will be “Forest and Undergrowth: chestnuts, mushrooms, truffles and woodland fruits in regional culinary tradition”, flavouring not only the menu – which will harmonise deliciously with the autumnal season – but also the speakers’ presentations and cultural contributions.
The topic, which has informed the Academy’s activities during the year, is amply explored in the latest volume of the Food Culture Library, delving into a rich world of gastronomic delights gifted by the products of the forest and its undergrowth to our many regional cuisines, alongside stories, legends and other interesting connected facts.
